Global leadership in energy management: 2018 Awards

29 May 2018

The CEM Energy Management Leadership Awards celebrated leading organisations that use the global ISO 50001 energy management system standard to attain enduring improvement in energy performance.

This year’s winners were presented during the last Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM9) in which 50 organisations with facilities in 103 countries and economies shared valuable insights on their best practices, success stories, and other benefits by meeting the ISO 50001 standard in one or more of their facilities. On 24 May 2018, three companies were awarded during CEM9 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The event also served as a platform for recognising the contributions of 47 other organisations with the Energy Management Insight Award for elevating global awareness of energy management systems.

The CEM awards programme brings to light the energy, environmental, and business benefits achieved when organisations invest in energy efficiency. The award recipients represent various economic sectors not seen in previous years, indicating the growing use of the ISO 50001 energy management system standard. These 50 organisations report annual energy cost savings of up to US $383 million and emission reductions of up to 4.3 million metric tons of CO2—the equivalent of taking 916,000 passenger vehicles off the road.[i]

Congratulations to the award winners for improving energy performance!
