EEDAL 2017 to be held in California in September

The 9th International Conference on Energy Efficiency in Domestic Appliances and Lighting (EEDAL 2017) will be hosted at the University of California, Irvine, on 13-15 September. Organised by UC Irvine with the scientific supervision of the European Commission Joint Research Center, the three-day conference will feature discussions and debates on the latest developments in energy efficient residential appliances and lighting, including in such areas as policies and programmes, technological advances and consumer behaviour.

Calling for nominations: SEAD Connected Efficiency Award

The Super-efficient Equipment and Appliance Deployment (SEAD) initiative is now receiving nominations for the Connected Efficiency Award, launched at the 8th Clean Energy Ministerial in Beijing in June 2017. The objective of the Award is to promote the uptake - within mains-powered, network-connected devices- of communications protocols which minimise the energy required to maintain network connectivity. It also aims to highlight those who develop these class-leading protocols and spur further innovation in this area.

G20 Leaders approve G20 Energy and Climate Plan, including G20 Energy Efficiency Investment Toolkit

On 7-8 July, G20 Leaders meeting in Hamburg, Germany, agreed to the G20 Climate and Energy Plan for Growth. Supported by almost all G20 countries in their final Leaders’ Declaration, the new Plan calls for enhanced collaboration and investments into energy efficiency to ensure affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy systems accessible to all – in line with the Paris Agreement and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #7.
