G20 Energy and Environment Ministers raise importance of energy efficiency at historic first joint ministerial meeting in Japan

Energy and environment ministers from G20 countries met for their first ever joint ministerial meeting on 15-16 June in Karuizawa, Japan. Held under the G20 Presidency of Japan, the G20 Ministerial Meeting on Energy Transitions and Global Environment for Sustainable Growth tackled issues relating to the protection of the physical environment and clean energy transitions. Energy efficiency was discussed by delegates as a central pillar for achieving sustainable and clean energy systems for all economies.

Senior financiers, investors and policy-makers recognise importance of energy efficiency investment at official G20 side event

G20 policymakers, CEOs of major pension funds, insurance companies, and senior financiers gathered to address the question of how to close the world´s energy efficiency investment gap at the ‘G20 Global Summit on Financing Energy Efficiency, Innovation and Clean Technology’ on 12 June in Tokyo, Japan.

The summit - an official side-event to the 2019 Japanese Presidency of the G20 - was co-hosted by International Partnership for Energy Efficiency Cooperation (IPEEC) and UN Environment’s Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) with the support of a high-level steering committee composed of experts and industry representatives.

This webinar will address recent research on plug-in electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure development and usage and the critical role of utilities in enabling the growth of the EV market.

We will address the prospective impacts of EVs on the electricity grid, how much charging is needed, what kinds of charging (e.g. home, workplace, and public charging), and associated impacts on charging costs and upstream electricity emissions. We will also examine emerging charging trends from recent in-use data related to vehicle range, charging speed and price.
